Bhubaneswar, May 12 (PTI) Two Orissa police personnel were today suspended on charge of derelicton of duty as well as breach of security for the main accused in the murder of child marathon runner Budhia's coach Biranchi Das. Sub-inspector Niranjan Mallik and Assistant Sub-inpsector R K Rout, in-charge of security of the main accused Sandeep Acharya when he was being taken to a hospital for medical examination before being produced at the court, were found guilty of breaching his security, DCP H K Lal said.
"There was lapse in security at the hospital", Lal said. The police had apprehended that rival gangs could attack the gangster when he was in the police custody, a senior officer pointed out.
Sources, however, said the top police officers did not take it lightly when Acharya spoke to the media at the hospital. The gangster, who had earlier been prevented from speaking to the media, was seen freely talking to television channels and reporters when he was getting his blood pressure checked by doctors.
