Chennai, Apr 5 (PTI) Virtually putting the Hogenakkal Integrated Drinking Water Project on hold till a popular government is installed in Karnataka, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi today said the state would "wait" till the new government takes charge there. In a statement here, he said only a "few days" were left for elections in Karnataka.
"I hope that a popular government will understand our just demand and abide by the 1998 agreement to implement the scheme," the Chief Minister said. "If the siutation continues even after the polls there, we will tell the world that Tamils, even at the cost of their lives, will not be people without self respect.
We will wait till a popular government is in place there. I expect the co-operation of the new government for the scheme," he said.
