Calcutta: Professor Ratnakar Shetty, the chief administrative officer of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), is favoured to become the next president of the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA). He is currently a vice-president of the association.
The post had been vacated following the sudden death of Vilasrao Deshmukh. Deshmukh's successor will be elected from among MCA managing committee members. It is understood that Shetty has the majority.
In case he is challenged, the challenger could be Ravi Sawant, the current treasurer of the association. Whoever becomes the president, he will be in office till the MCA's next annual general meeting, in 2013.
