President's son Abhijit Mukherjee wins Jangipur Parliamentary seat

Murshidabad, Oct 13 (ANI): Abhijit Mukherjee, son of President Pranab Mukherjee and Congress candidate, won the Jangipur Lok Sabha seat on Saturday defeating his nearest CPI-M rival Muzaffar Hussain by 2,536 votes.

According to reports, Abhijit polled 3,32,919 votes, while Muzaffar Hussain bagged 3,30,383 votes.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Sudhangshu Biswas came third with 85,867 votes.

The by-election was held on October 10 as the seat had been left vacant after Pranab Mukherjee was elevated to the highest office of the country. (ANI)
