Sydney, June 5(ANI): Cricket Australia (CA) has come out with a new scheme, which would ensure that any agent who wants to represent a cricketer acquires proper accreditation from them after proving his competence.
The scheme is likely to be very similar to the Australia Football League Players Association's for accrediting anyone wanting to represent a player.ccording to the Sydney Morning Herald, a CA spokesman confirmed on Monday it was 'supportive of the concept of player agent accreditation' and would 'work with the ACA in implementing that'.
A decision on whether the scheme would be immediately compulsory or progressively introduced, after a pilot program, is yet to be taken. It is likely that the chosen policy will be implemented this year.
To earn the accreditation the players' managers must pledge to adhere to a code of conduct, which sets out rules of behaviour in areas such as conflicts of interest, inducements to and from others and approaches to prospective clients.
The managers must prove their knowledge in key areas such as AFL and AFLPA rules and regulations, the collective bargaining agreement between the players and the AFL and standard playing contracts. (ANI)
