The Naxals continue to hamper development work by creating problems for ongoing projects. On December 17, Naxals set ablaze 20 vehicles of an engineering company, deployed for railway work in West Singhbhum area of Jharkhand. It not only hindered railway expansion work but also caused a huge loss to the company. The incident happened even as the police department along with railways was planning to deploy security forces in the area due to increased Naxal activities. The incident has created fear among workers and many left the construction site. In the last few years, Naxals have been targeting developmental projects, and in the process creating a sense of insecurity among contractors and workers.
