It took India years to shed the 'one-medal nation' tag, and now millions of sports lovers are confident that the athletes will return home with a clutch of medals. This time, our medal hopes lie in badminton, archery, tennis and wrestling, besides shooting and boxing. Vijender Singh, became the first Indian boxer to win a medal at the Olympics. At the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics, he defeated Ecuadorian Carlos Góngora in the quarterfinals to win a bronze for India.
