Black and White photography is something that most people still enjoy. However, few really go so far as to analyze what makes BW special. Pure tonal separation is of course the joy of BW, but the control over this tonal separation is what really makes BW photography a joy to the photographer. Classic darkroom and shooting techniques having transformed themselves into Photoshop tools today, the end product of BW photography – the image itself, remains essentially unchanged! Add to this the fact that candid subjects in themselves lend their own aura of timelessness; BW images of such candid subjects present an altogether unparalleled viewer experience.
