PCB must link B'desh tour with Pak players' participation in Bangladesh Premier League

Lahore, Jan. 10 (ANI): The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) must link the Bangladesh team tour with the Pakistan players' participation in the Bangladesh Premier League to be held in April, the Bangladesh Cricket Board has reportedly said.

This comes as the BCB authorities have started feeling the heat of its second edition of the Bangladesh Premier League in the absence of Pakistani players. Foreign players are reluctant to participate in the BPL due to delay in their first edition's payments, reports The Nation.

Bangladesh were due to tour Pakistan in March 2012. However, the BCB cancelled the tour after the Dhaka High Court issued an order to defer the tour for indefinite period, following the submission of a petition by a Bangladeshi citizen seeking cancellation of the tour on security grounds.

According to a report, BCB president Nazimul Hasan did not get any confirmation from his Pakistani counterpart Zaka Ashraf regarding the participation of players in the second edition of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) T20 during a meeting held recently in New Delhi.

BCB's media committee chairman Jalal Yunus said that Hasan has assured Ashraf that he will soon have detailed discussions on the Pakistan tour with the board's ad hoc executive committee. Yunus added that the two boards have also decided to work closely to identify an appropriate time to tour Pakistan.

Yunus said nobody party made any commitments during the meeting, adding that they are still hopeful that Pakistan will participate in the BPL.

The participation of the Pakistani players became a cause for concern after BCB postponed the Tigers' proposed short trip to Pakistan a little more than a week ago.(ANI)
