Islamabad, Apr 30(ANI): Pakistan intelligence agencies have warned that the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) may be planning another attack on the Adiala prison.
According to a Ministry of Defence notification to the Punjab home department, agencies have traced a telephonic conversation, which indicated that the Adiala prison was on TTP's hit-list.
The Punjab Government has demanded that the deployment of a Pakistani Rangers at the five most sensitive prisons in the province, including Rawalpindi, Lahore, Faisalabad, Multan and Bahawalpur, The Express Tribune reports.
Security at these prisons has been put on high alert, with delegated regional, city and district police officers being deployed to make special security arrangements for prisons housing terrorists.
Bahawalpur Superintendent of police (Prisons) Chaudhry Naeem confirmed they have received special orders to boost security at the prisons and added that special bunkers have been built at both entrances of the Bahawalpur central prison and elite personnel have been deployed around the prison.
Security personnel for Bahawalpur central prison have been sent to police personnel to undergo special training.
The development comes after the Taliban helped hundreds of prisoners to escape in the Bannu jailbreak incident. (ANI)
