    Opposition's sack Chidambaram chorus rises

New Delhi, Sep 22 (IANS) The opposition chorus for sacking of Home Minister P. Chidambaram grew Thursday over his alleged role in the 2G spectrum allocation under UPA-I, brought out by a finance ministry note to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

Bharatiya Janata Party leader Murli Manohar Joshi led the attack, demanding Chidambaram's ouster and calling for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into his role in the 2G spectrum scam when he was finance minister in 2008.

Joshi was joined by the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa in making the demand. The BJP's Arun Jaitley said the finance ministry note on the role of Chidambaram showed the UPA government was 'at war with itself'.

Joshi's call for Chidambaram's sacking came after Janata Party president Subramanian Swamy Wednesday submitted to the Supreme Court documents indicating that Chidambaram, as the then finance minister, was involved in deciding the 2G spectrum price along with A. Raja, the then communications minister who is now in jail.

The documents filed by Swamy included a communication of Jan 30, 2008, by the department of economic affairs of the finance ministry recording the gist of the meeting between Chidambaram and Raja.

'This clearly proves that the role of P. Chidambaram as finance minister in the 2G scam... is responsible,' Joshi told reporters here.

'Either he should resign himself or he should be dismissed, I demand it strongly,' he said, adding that there should also be a CBI probe.

In its note to the Prime Minister's Office, the finance ministry says Chidambaram could have prevented spectrum from being given away at throwaway prices if he had insistied on its auction -- implying that presumptive losses worth thousands of crores could have thus been avoided.

The note, which was apparently shown to Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee and accessed by way by an application under the Right to Information Act, was prepared by a deputy secretary in the finance ministry and sent to the Prime Minister's Office March 25.

The CPI-M, in a statement, called for a CBI probe and said that the finance ministry note to the PMO in March 2011 'has shown authoritatively that Chidambaram had cleared the allotment of licenses for 2G spectrum at the 2001 entry fee even though the finance secretary and his own ministry had pointed out the need for revision of the fee'.

Jayalalithaa, reacting to the developments, told reporters in Chennai that Chidambaram should be sacked for his involvement in the 2G spectrum scam.

'The CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) should act against Chidambaram like it did against Raja,' Jayalalithaa said.

Jaitley, addressing a function, said: 'The UPA government is increasingly at war with(in). On the one hand there is lack of trust with people, on the other there is lack of confidence between ministers. A civil war like situation has emerged.'

He said Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress president Sonia Gandhi were 'mute spectators'. 'The legitimacy of the government has been eroded,' he added.

Why does Mr Chidambaram wait? The honourable course for him is to quit office and then demand a thorough enquiry to get himself cleared, i.e. if he has faith in his own integrity!

It was more than clear that that this innocent looking face, talking softly is not that innocent. He is master mind of so many scams.Harshad Mehta scam also happened when he was commerce minister and he purchased his shares at throw away price due to which he had to resign as commerce minister. He also won the the election by manipulation and case is still pending against him.

The Congress Party seems to have forgotten the words "moral responsibility" and its past great leaders like Lal Bahadur Shastri. Had it not been the case, its top leadership (if any) would have insisted on Mr Chidambaram to resign at least when doubts about his integrity were cast by leaders of the Opposition parties.

Cong is well known for its immorality and lack of any spine. Look how they could not select a male of their own variety in India for their leader. They are tugging at the Saree Pallu of an unpatriotic foreigner shamelessly and have an unelected dumb economist as their leader with a bunch of educated kennel to play the supportive music.A totally handicapped country and a powerless President, all in the nam,e of Constitution and democracy. These bums will commit all scams and we have to watch silently fort them to pass into history only after 5 years. Shame on the Govt. and Indian spineless democracy.

YES! Sack this guy for fooling the nation. this government has lost its credibility to provide a 'moral governance'. Dunno how many more skeletons to tumble out of its closet-the entire nation is waiting with 'smirk' on their faces, ever since the bunch of jokers that represent this government - all of those 'holier-than-thou' speakers go yapping like 'mad' dogs, talking about legitimacy, judiciary, credibility, blame-game - We are going through some of the most interesting times of change ever since independence - thanks to a 'crumbling' government where not only itself but members of its allies have been looting the nation left-right-and-center. Chiddu and the gang : remember! It is all every tax payers hard earned money - Its time we Indians learnt our lesson of electing criminals to represent us. Hope 2014 will see more cleaner and result oriented 'peoples representatives/servant' sitting in the parliament.

Morality, decency, honesty, gentle behaviour etc etc are all made into history under the successive UPA Govts. The only way to rid this high level cancer is to bury them all lock stock and barrel during the next general elections deep deep into Bay of Bengal.Only problem could be that the fish might die of the same cancer and pollute the country!

      Dear Readers,
Atleast now, understand and realize that Manmohan is the captain and head of the team of corrupt persons.
He is not knowledgeable. He knows nothing about Economics.
He is not clean. He knows all the inner details of looting and has intentionally been silent.
His bluff would be called very soon.
He is very dull headed and lacks national interest and please don't be carried away with his soft voice and looks.
His only credit is - He is the finest actor and Director of this episode. That is why he has asked everybody not to open the mouth before he returns.
Uninspiring, Unconvincing and irritating character throughout his career.

As Manmohan is not capable of doing anything, the easiest course for him is to support his crooked cronies. A totally impotent PM

Raja and Chidambaram represent the tip of ice berg. There are bigger players who did the scam. They will try their best like in past to derail the investigations and court proceedings.

CHidambaram should be sacked and arrested for his invovement in 2 G scam.Properties of Chidambaram, Raja, Kanimozhi must be ATTACHED without any delay

Congress Government should be dismissed immediately. If the coalition partners have any shame, they would pass a no confidence motion.

This is a shameless Congress Government. The irony is, in next elections millions of poor voters will elect Rahul Khan as the Prime Minister of India.

      Basic Question
Can govt. sell petrol in 2008 at the prevailing rate of 2001 ? I hope not possible. Then how 2G spectrum was sold in 2008 at the sale rate of 2001 ? Who are the persons responsible?.Rest all news or discussion is to divert the issue. Will you sell your ornaments in 2008 at the sale rate of 2001? A common sense answer is no. Imagine the heights of hiding the truth.

Opposition's sack Chidambaram chorus rises.i fully agree with the opposition to sack this scum.the pity is that he and his wife were involved in the stock scam but was made minister again and that too home minister.he as a finance minister never budged an inch to agree to the demand of ex-servicemen to the condition of one rank one pension.the exmen have tried every method(ex-servicemen even returned their medals too ) to achieve their well placed demand.but the same person did not think for a second while sending the looted money to foreign country.the fact is the i have no suitable words to express my hatred for this person.

If I remember correct Pranab Mukherjee was saying in the Parliament and other news channels that the spectrum auction by Raja has given income to Government and will help for a better budget. I remember to have watched the speech in the Newstimes/NDTV channels. After Chimdambaram, he was also a spectator and defended Raja along with his other cabinet collegues which include PM. It paved way for Raja to utilize the money for his benefits along with Kanimozhi.
