Oil firms increase jet fuel price by two percent

New Delhi, Nov 15 (IANS) State-owned oil marketing companies (OMCs) Tuesday increased the prices of aviation turbine fuel (ATF) by two percent, effective from Nov 16.

The ATF at Delhi's IGI airport goes up by 1.95 percent at Rs.62,310.33 per kilo litre from Rs.61,115.36.

The recent hike is the second such increase in November. The OMCs had increased jet fuel prices by 3.8 percent on Nov 1.

The latest hike is expected to further burden the industry, which has seen many airlines reporting losses owing to the high cost of jet fuel.

The ATF cost accounts for nearly 50 percent of the operating cost of any airline. Jet fuel prices also vary from state to state which levy sales tax on the ATF in the region of 22 to 23 percent.

The OMCs revise ATF prices on every 1st and 16th of the month based on the average international crude oil price during the fortnight.

Vijay Mallaya made some good points in his press conference today. In addition to Central levies, State Governments are vying each other to extract as much as possible from airlines. That adds to the steep rise in cost. In addition to charging airlines, passengers too are charged in the form of service tax and what not. There should be some working arrangement among airline companies and governments on these issues. If airlines agree to hold the ticket price unchanged for say, one year, (that is revision only once in a year), governments should refrain from enhancing the rates of sales / service tax, etc frequently.

If the price of petrol, which affects each one of us irrespective of our income, caste, creed, religion, is increased by the Govt. and the Oil companies at their sweet will, then there is no tears shed for increase in jet fuel prices because a small percentage of Indian population travels by Air and they can well afford it. But I have a feeling that the price of petrol has been reduced by about Rs. 2.32 and it must be done most probably to create a ground to reduce the ATF price drastically to help Vijay Mallya. Both our PM and MOCA have a liking for vijaya Mallya and they will not allow KF to shut down.

It's surely the ploy of the present most corrupt to the core UPA (United Plunderers' Association) to make and reduce the airlines in India further to complete, rapid bankruptcy and then sell them under the unholy pretext of FDI a safer route for their ill-gotten, mind-boggling public loot to their, already bursting at seams, hidden shady Swiss bank accounts. Any doubts ???

OIL COMPANIES INCREASING THE PRICE OF AVIATION TURBINE FUEL COST:

Increasing the price by 2% will incrrease the air ticket in domestic routes will go up by Rs. 150/- in a long haulage, say from Mumbai to Guwahati. It will not hurt such travellers.

But gradually it will help Indian Railways for optimum utilization of its resources. Making airline cheaper is unwise as we will bleed in foreign exchange. Going by train will leave us grounded to mother earth.

We can reach any station within one hour. But air travellers wait for atleast 3 years before emplane.

if substantial cost of air lines operation is fuel other beauty parade , oil companies should buy out Kingfisher and Indian air lines and operate them

I learned somewhere, the ATF is finer than petrol used by common people. But, it is still cheaper? How can it be?

It is interesting to note that the Aviation fuel price is far less than the ordinary petrol. How is that done?
