Washington, Sept 24 (ANI): President Barack Obama's re-election campaign has boasted that it is winning the White House race against Republican contender Mitt Romney, despite polls showing a dead heat.
Obama's team taunted the Republican challenger with polling data from crucial battleground states.
"The president is winning, and winning in the swing states," former president Bill Clinton said in a television interview.
"We're either tied or, in the lead in every battleground state," The Telegraph quoted Jim Messina, Obama's campaign manager, as saying.
According to the paper, both presidential candidates are locked in a virtual tie in polls, with Gallup putting national support for both men at 47 per cent.
Obama, however, leads in the 10 states set to decide the November 6 election, the paper said.
Meanwhile, amid sharp and mounting criticism from fellow Republicans over his faltering White House bid, Romney recently rejected suggestions that he needed to overhaul his campaign for the White House race.
"It doesn't need a turnaround. There are some days we're up. There are some days we're down We've got a campaign which is tied with an incumbent president," Romney said. (ANI)
