No let up in Congress-Trinamool war of words

Kolkata, Feb 11 (IANS) The Congress and Trinamool Congress have again chosen to stay on the collision path over the release of central funds for the cash-strapped West Bengal government.

It all began when Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee made a scathing attack on the central government for being 'insensitive' to the financial crisis.

She thundered: "If the state doesn't gets its dues, the people of Bengal know how to get it".

According to her, Bengal was debt ridden by over Rs. 2.3 lakh crore, 94 percent of its earnings go towards salaries, interest payments to the centre and pensions. With what remained, it was tough to run the state.

Rubbishing Banerjee, Congress spokesman Abhishek Manu Singhvi said since her government took over the reins, it had been allotted Rs.7,800 crore by the central government.

Singhvi's remark ignited a chain reaction as leaders from both the partied tried to outdo each other.

The Trinamool launched a two-pronged attack led by Finance Minister Amit Mitra and Food Minister Jyoti Priya Mullick.

Mitra accused the Congress of giving out "absolutely incorrect information". He said Bengal had not got a "single paisa" from New Delhi.

Mullick accused "lobbyists" of colonising New Delhi. He said the central government was not giving funds to buy paddy from the farmers. "We need a one time grant of Rs.2,000 crore but the centre is not giving it."

The minister declined to attend a meeting scheduled Feb 8 and 9: "I will send my officers instead. It is futile to go to Delhi which is home to lobbyists. I cannot indulge in that dirty game."

Singhvi returned the compliment. He marshalled statistics to back his claims and accused the Banerjee government of "deliberately attempting to understate and suppress central assistance".

"It is true that I am not an economist. an eminent economist and finance minister of West Bengal did not know these figures or did not care to find them out or did not want to talk about them."

The spar continued with Mitra reiterating his earlier stand, with a rider that whatever the state got was its constitutional right.

As the tug of war continued, the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) announced that the Left Front would support the state government if its demands were based on principle.

It is not blackmailing, CONG is not helping debt-ridden bengal and in PRESS MEETING cong leaders are giving false allegations against TMC to facilititate LEFT to give them political mileage. In future, CONG will join hands with LEFT to keep their power intact in DELHI, like UPA-1. LEFT are fake communists, they shout in public that they are against CONG, but they don't hesitate to give CONG support in DELHI from outside of ministry.(they have already done that in UPA-1 )
After all, Sonia Gandhi once told that it was easy to run DELHI GOVERNMENT with the help of LEFT.

The only reason why the congress and it's allies are not breaking the ties is to keep the BJP out of power. There;s infighting between the allies in all the states like Maharashtra,TN,WB ,J&K..the list can go on and on...

All Political Parties are United Behind the Curtain to Keep BJP away from the Power , it is also most unfortunate that BJP S` is still confused or not clear in case of Baba Ramdev and shree Anna Hazare `s movement against corruption, may be unfortunate "fate" of this country

'Keeping BJP out of power' is the most stupid reason for Congress-TMC to retain ties. Think of West Bengal, think of India, and then decide what is in the interest of the State and the Nation, not personalities of Mamata and Soniaa. It is absolutely necessary for TMC to come out of UPA and straight-way join openly and boldly th NDA. The people of bengal and the people of India will ever thank Mamataji for this good act.

The suicide by an engineer Sunil Verma in UP proves that this Congress government is indulging in “STATE SPONSORED TERRORISM” and has reduced the CBI to nothing more than “STATE SPONSORED TERRORISTS”. How is this CBI any different from the ISI of Pakistan? Threatening and eliminating political adversaries whichever way they can, by hook or by crook.
There should really be a PIL filed in the Supreme Court against such ABUSE OF POWER (as it is called in the US) by the Congress-UPA government.
Especially just before the elections, when the AACHAR SANHITA becomes the law to be followed, the CBI should be banned from going after any political adversary of the government and no cases should be allowed to be filed by the CBI against the government’s political opponents. Digvijay Singh openly threatens Mayawati on TV of using the CBI against her - shocking.
People responsible for Sunil Verma’s death due to this witch hunt unleashed by the Congress should be hanged for his demise. This Congress-UPA government has blood on its hands of this innocent man.
The totally callous Congress is completely aloof of the problems that the common man faces every day before even the peons of any government office. This arrogant and shameless Congress has, in fact, tried to muffle the voice of the common man and has tried to protect the corrupt people of the government through their version of the LokPal bill. Thank God that the BJP and many other parties did not allow the Congress’ sham LokPal bill to be passed in the Rajya Sabha otherwise it would have become the law and the common man would have been crushed using it.

It is the lazy, backward Bengalis ( yes, that includes the Robindro Shongeet whining effeminate Bhadralok ) themselves who destroyed Bengal.

Mamata is harming the interest of Bengalis at a faster rate than even Jootaw Basu. Bengalis elected her knowing full well that she is a ruffian with nothing but a lot of hot air and is allowing her to rule in a despotic manner while she unleashes her Trinamool thugs to go on a rampage !

Mamata is hurting the interests of Bengalis at a faster rate than even Jootaw Basu. In the last 8 moths she has not done anything positive for Bengalis but harmed them by appeasing teh Gurkha separatists of Darjeeling.

She is focussed solely on strengthening her Trinamool Party by hook or by crook, at the expense of the general public. She has expanded her Party by letting all manner of ruffians to join the Party and then carry out extortion & violence but refused to criticize / expel them. She has diverted public funds to give "grants" to local toughs operating "Clubs" and buy their loyalty in future elections. She has pandered to criminals among Minority communities by letting them steal electricity. Her refusal to assist land acquisition has thwarted any plan for industrialization. Instead of making do with the limited development funds left after paying all dues ( service enormous debts left behind by the CPM ) she has made bombastic demands on UPA II in Delhi and been blaming everyone but herself for her own pig headedness and utter failure to deliver.

Bengalis elected her knowing full well that she is just a ruffian with nothing but a lot of hot air ( pretends to be an artist and wastes public funds to inflict her deranged tastes on the public e,g. the paint schem on Duranto trains ) and is allowing her to rule in a despotic manner while she unleashes her Trinamool thugs to go on a rampage !..

It is the lazy, backward & spoiled Bengalis ( yes, that includes the not just the lower 80 % of Bengalis who are tribals and Minorities but the Robindro Shongeet whining effeminate Bhadralok too ) themselves who destroyed Bengal by making one stupid choice after another and then tolerating evil like the CPM for 35 years and now Trinamool.

Perhaps Bengalis are no longer capable of producing / electing leaders any better than Jootaw Bose or Mamata

This moron Tarun staying in Maharashtra, is among few stupids who does not realise that Mamata is a just a fruit of the same old congress. She was not getting power staying in congress so seperated. Before WB polls her comments says" i do not want to be the CM" as soon as the poll results came she ran and sat on the chair. Bloody rascals.....
      • Subhajit 3 months ago
Then Mr chulbul, who will become CM? Nandigram-netai murderer Buddhadeb bhattacharya? or u himself? And Mr chulbul, mamata did not separate from cong to gain power ,she separated to fight cpim, as bengal congress(and also highcommand) always give support to LEFT in backdoor by giving them political mileage in BENGAL. CONG, LEFT are bloody rascals.

In the '90s under order of the crooked CPM govt., the Police of WB dragged Mamata out of Writers Bldg. ( Chief Minister's offices ) by her hair. The same needs to happen again - but this time by decent middle-class Bengalis - and for good.

The only way to revive Bengal is for the Bengali middle-class to at last unite and take power away from the gangsters of the CPM or Trinamool who are all in the pocket of crooked Marwari businessmen ( Birla, Goenka, Dalmia, Ruia, Neotia,...) that have bled the once rich state and cheated on taxes.

Bengal still has enough potential to make it grow at 15 % per year and attract FDI. But the richest parts of the state ( Calcutta, the Coal & Iron belt, Darjeeling ) have all fallen under control of the Marwaris. Bengali professionals / middle class must first take charge all over the state and start businesses including agriculture and wholesale agency of basics like food, clothing, medicine & building materials.

This should also apply to other states of E. India ( Bihar, Orissa, Assam .. ) where the Marwaris captured businesses with help from the British and are the main cause behind the relative backwardness of those states 70 years after Independence.

In 8 months of (mis) governance Mamata Banerji has done more harm to W. Bengal than 8 years of CPM misrule. Her modus operandi is : blackmail the UPA in Delhi for funds, then use it to buy votes and marginalize other political parties ( including the Congress ) in WB, also spread her own Trinamool to other states.

Mamata is insecure & dictatorial, she is a Hitler in Sari.

If the people of WB had any sense they would get rid of this mad megalomaniac immediately - before she causes any more damage like giving Darjeeling, the best part of WB, to the illegal Gurkha immigrants from Nepal or foment more separatist movements through her dictatiorial rule.
