Kolkata, Sep 19 (IANS) Giving firm indication that she was not ready for a compromise on her decision to quit the UPA government, Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee Wednesday stuck to her stand seeking a roll back of the economic reforms initiated by the central government.
"We will not move from our stand no matter what Our ministers will resign as already stated," Banerjee told the media here.
Calling the cap on subsidised LPG cylinders at six as 'dieting and not eating', Banerjee demanded that the cap be hiked to a minimum 24 cylinders per year.
Simultaneously, the hike in diesel prices should be cancelled and fertiliser prices must also be reduced.
She also rubbished Finance Minister P. Chidambaram's claim that the Congress had tried to reach her on the issue of reforms.
"I must make it clear that there has been no effort from the Congress to reach me. A section of negligible channels is spreading misinformation and disinformation," she said.
Railway Minister Mukul Roy seconded Banerjee's views.
"As a cabinet minister I have often interacted with the prime minister but regarding this issue I have never been communicated by the PM to tell or communicate anything to our party supremo. This is very clear," he said.
Banerjee accused the Congress leadership of distorting facts.
"If they really wanted to contact me, then why didn't they tell this earlier? Why are they are telling now after they have taken the decision? They are distorting facts and creating confusion," she said.
"Any decision on FDI in retail can be implemented only after a legislation is passed in parliament," she added.
