New Delhi, June 14 (ANI): The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Thursday informed that nine people have been arrested for violation of Foreigner's Act in Himachal Pradesh.
"Information has been received from Government of Himachal Pradesh that 8 Taiwanese Nationals and one Indian National arrested in two cases of Police Station-Jogindernagar, District-Mandi, registered on 12th June have been remanded to Police custody till 16th of this month," said a Home Ministry release.
"The 8 Taiwanese Nationals were found working as carpenters and painters in the house of one Bo Gangkar Rimpoche in Chauntra near Jogindernagar. These Taiwanese Nationals had tourist VISAs and had violated the provisions of Foreigners Act," the release adds.
The Home Ministry further said investigation is on in connection with the arrest of eight Taiwanese Nationals and one Indian National in Himachal Pradesh.
"Investigation in the case is in progress. Services of interpreters for interrogation have been arranged by Himachal Pradesh Police. Shri Bo Gangkar Rimpoche has also been named as an accused in the two cases and is wanted by Himachal Pradesh Police," the Home Ministry release.
"It may be recalled that a sum of Rs.30.00 lakhs in Indian currency, 3000 US Dollars and some other foreign currency notes along with SIM Cards and mobile phones were recovered in these cases," the release adds. (ANI)
