Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose continues to inspire all Indians: Mukherjee

New Delhi, Feb 6 (ANI): President Pranab Mukherjee on Wednesday said Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose continued to inspire all Indians.

Mukherjee said this at a function held at Rashtrapati Bhavan where the first copy of the book, "Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose and Germany", by Professor Anita B. Pfaff was presented to him. The book has been brought out by the Federation of Indo-German Societies in India.

Speaking on the occasion, Mukherjee stated that he was particularly happy to see this publication as it was an extraordinary collection of records shared by Professor Anita Pfaff herself as well as other eminent writers and biographers.

He said that the book portrayed some interesting facets of the life of Netaji and his extraordinary contribution to India's freedom struggle.

Through this book, we once again feel inspired by the single-minded devotion of Netaji in his efforts for the freedom of his motherland, he stated.

Mukherjee further recalled his earlier visit to the residence of Prof. Anita Pfaff in Augsburg in 1995, where he said, he had the privilege of meeting with three generations of Netaji's family. They had a fascinating - and memorable - discussion about Netaji, he said.

Mukherjee further said that this publication was a tribute to Netaji, who was one among the greatest leaders of the national movement - who had devoted and sacrificed their lives to give India her cherished freedom. Netaji's role in India's freedom struggle was unique, he said.

"For him, the fight for India's independence was also a part of a larger struggle against colonialism and imperialism and creation of a society that would usher in development of the masses in the widest possible sense. Netaji continues to inspire all Indians, he added. (ANI)

  • If found guilty, the trio should be punished

India, May 19 -- There is a clear sense of disbelief at personal and team level in KKR at the events that have taken place over the last three days.To say the least, I am shocked to learn that Sreesanth, my India teammate, is allegedly involved in the most heinous act that a sportsman can commit. But let me tell you I have no sympathies for him or the other two, if they are indeed proven guilty. I hope that investigations are complete sooner than later and there is an exemplary punishment given
