I have been thinking whether to write this for the last 2 days. For the intention that it may help save lives, I am willing to face the music. I think women these days tend to snap pretty fast when things dont go their way. and ending their lives tend to become a common weapon or way of revenge. I see some happening around me in lifetime but starting to see more and more, near or far. Is this a growing trend and will things get worsen? Is it because they are pampered in their upbringing or on the contrast being living in miserable state their whole life? How do government make help easier available? No MP talks about it probably it does not even fall under their checklist of what can be said or what cannot be said. Is Singapore a hotbed of more suicides to come? Someone the other day argued one per day is a low number but he forgot on a per capita basis that is high.

        Dear Buck
With all due respect, it is Men & Women of today have the tendency to act rashly without discerning the path of righteousness from wrongful approach.
It takes both hands to clap and in this case the husband is no angel nor is he quick to resolve the situation peacefully.
Depression is something must not be taken lightly or pass off as a mental sickness which requires "lock-down" quoted by a frivolous DJ. This mental state of mind can hit anyone of us with a probability of 1 in 3 to 1 in 5. My personal assessment of her tragic event was attributed to post natal blues & lack of fraternal support during her tormented period. When "all doors are shut on her face", that leaves her staring on "four walls" which is absolutely deafening & a dead end. The next course of direction was beyond anyone reach & despair drags into the mindset which determines her final decision.
However you're right to say that youngsters of today are pampered and unable to cope with close to "disaster" matters. Have seen too many myself and expecting more will happen in the near future if the govt is not taking precautionary measures to tackle the problem with the help from Welfare society, Organisations, religious institutions and health care agencies, etc.
So check the statistic before putting the blame on the woman. I would say both parties failed to compromise on terms which they themselves knew best & better than us but couldn't resolute amicably.
Time to mourn & pray for our fallen Singaporean. Let us stand in solidarity.

As for the youngsters of present context:
We can't change the attitude & behaviours of today's youngsters; we will never will becoz parents are an example & replica of themselves to their children.
Sometimes it takes a very painful and unfortunate lesson to bring the message home.

Yacob, I agree with you on most part, but IMHO, when men snap, they commit murder or some bloody nose; when women snap they commit suicide and drag their kids along. This is the difference, not because one is better than the other or more than the other. It is perhaps the motherly instinct in them, that if they are not around, no one will love their kids. I think we need to address this human instinct, which has no power to discern what is right or wrong at the moment it is triggered. We need to advocate hope, government needs to do it and their high paying MPs need to also. I am not seeing an"reaching-out" environment in our midst; even from the churches. I am seeing an environment where concerns is about enriching and protecting its own internal group of interest. Everyone adopts "No Publicity then No Money" criteria when assessing help.

we have community centres, neighborhood police posts, RCs, schools, churches and temples. if all come together and do a campaign of adopting or depositing these kids, maybe we see fewer such cases in future.
      • Uncle John 8 months ago
Community Centres - only for pple to play badminton, dancing, karaoke lah.
NPP - only for pple to change address on their NRICs and report neighbors noisy lah.
RCs - only for pple to meet their idol MPs and partying, never hv courtesy to inform other residents for makan. Ownself makan.
Churches+Temples - only for pple buying 4Ds? Ask you to pay S$40 for counselling? Don't pray pray lah.

Adopting kids? must be joking lah. They cannot even help us find a job suittable to our qualifications. Find MP also cannot help, ok?!

Only when community center needs money then they will create new avenues like collecting paper, clothes and others. This will be sold and the some money used for other purpose. Their goal is to server PAP govt.

And they disallow people to use live bait for fishing in reservoir. Which is more polluting?

The reservoir is similar to a dustbin, just that the dustbin is flooded.

Sad that one takes own life..Even more when an innocent child's life suddenly cut short due to adults' problem.. Sweet child may you rest in peace in heaven; can't say that abt mother.. She must be very bitter and angry to do such drastic act..May God have mercy on her soul too..

It is another very sad day for Singapore. It is even so sad when the poor 3yrs old does not even have a chance and a choice. It is indeed sad.

My neighbour's kid is a fast learner. He failed his class test and he blames the government for it. The reasons he gave are about the same as yahoo comments. No doubt he will grow up to be quite successful.
