Islamabad, Oct. 28 (ANI): Pakistan Interior Minister Rehman Malik has said that the fact that no untoward incidents took place during Eid-ul-Azha prayers throughout the country proves that the decision of the government to suspend mobile services was correct.
"Our strategy of suspending the cellular service for few hours in some parts of the country worked," The News quoted Malik, as saying. He added that the decision was appreciated by over 80 per cent people of Pakistan.
Malik said that in the wake of the terrorist attack in Afghanistan on Friday, there was a threat of terrorist activities in Pakistan also, therefore, precautionary measures, including suspension of mobile services in some sensitive areas of the country, were taken.
The decision to block the mobile service was taken by a high level committee after taking the request and the recommendations of provinces into account, Malik said. (ANI)
