Patna/New Delhi, July 20 (ANI): The opposition Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and Lok Janashakti Party (LJP) parties on Wednesday demanded the resignation of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar over the recent land scam issue.
Reportedly, prime lands of Bihar Industrial Area Development Authority (BIADA) have been allotted to relatives of government officials and ministers.
The RJD and LJP leaders accused Nitish Kumar of overseeing such illegal activities.
Addressing mediapersons in New Delhi, Ram Vilas Paswan, a senior leader of the LJP demanded strict action against the culprits.
"We demand that strict action should be taken against those who are involved in illegal acquisition of land. Immediately, the authorities should take the lands back form those to whom the lands have been allotted. We also want to know that how many such lands have been acquired. We had informed the media about such misappropriations in the state over 15 days ago as well. We highly condemn the state administration and it's wrongful governance," said Paswan.
Meanwhile, in Patna, Abdul Bari Siddiqui, a leader of the RJD, demanded a detailed investigation into the scam by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
"We demand an investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the land scam. If you (those accused in the land scam) are not involved in the scam, you will be given a clean chit. However, we demand a detailed investigation into the entire matter," said Siddiqui.
Media reports said that Urvashi Sahi, daughter of Bihar Education Minister P K Sahi had been allotted 87,120 square feet of land that had originally been allotted to the Bihar Industrial Area Development Authority. The reports also said that Rehmat Fatima, the daughter of high profile Indian Administrative Service officer and Chief Secretary of the Irrigation Department of Bihar, Afzal Amanullah, was also allotted 87,120 square feetof land.
Bihar's Social Welfare Minister Parveen Amanulla, however, rejected these allegations.
"It takes time for someone to build reputation and a political profile. You (media) cannot malign someone without verification and knowledge about a case or people involved in the case. I think this is an effort to malign my image without concrete information," said Amanulla.
A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislator Awadesh Narayan Singh was also said to have been allotted 2,17,800 square feet of prime land in Bihata district of Bihar, under a forged name.
The biggest beneficiary is Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislator Ashok Agrawal, who got two plots of 13 lakh square feet and 2,46,000 square feet in Forbesganj in Aria district of Bihar. (ANI)
