Mumbai, Aug 3 (IANS) "Krishna aur Kans", 3D animated feature film, has been declared tax-free in six states including Maharashtra, while other states are considering the proposal resulting in advance block bookings, a company official said Friday.
Produced by Reliance Animation, the film, which released Friday, has been declared tax-free in Punjab, Rajasthan, Kerala, Chhattisgarh and West Bengal besides Maharashtra.
Other states like Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Karnataka, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Madhya Pradesh are also considering the proposal.
"We are thankful to all the state governments for such overwhelming support towards the film for the cause. We want every family in our country to celebrate Janmashtami with 'Krishna aur Kans' and enjoy the adventures and pranks of their favourite Krishna," said Ashish S.K., executive producer of the film and CEO, Reliance Animation.
Janmashtami is celebrated as the birthday of Lord Krishna and it falls Aug 10 this year.
"Schools across the states have started doing block bookings of the shows for their students. Even corporate, social groups and clubs in various cities across the country have done block bookings for their employees and members. Also, religious organisations have made bulk bookings," Ashish said.
Positioned as India's first animated family entertainer, "Krishna aur Kans" is set to appeal kids along with their parents and grandparents.
The songs of the film are composed by Shantanu Moitra, with lyrics by Swanand Kirkire and sung by Sonu Nigam, Shreya Ghoshal and Sunidhi Chauhan.
Actors like Juhi Chawla, Manoj Bajpayee, Om Puri, Anupam Kher, A.K. Hangal and Mukesh Khanna have lent their voices to the characters in the film.
The film, director by Vikram Veturi, has seen 1,200 artists working over five years.
