Kolkata hosts 12th International Children's Film Festival

Kolkata, June 27 (ANI): Youngsters are in for a treat with the commencement of the 12th International Children's Film Festival here.

Films from all across the world, including those from Hollywood would be screened. Children were seen flocking to the venue with their guardians.

Cine Central Calcutta Joint Secretary Sajal Dutta said, "There is no such children film, only few films which are coming mainly from Hollywood like the recently released Madagascar 3. Children don't have any knowledge about other countries, what Brazil children are doing, what France children are doing, what Denmark children are doing that is why we are showing these films only for them to know their country, their lifestyle and what the children are doing there."

Dutta said the festival also has the support of the United Nations Children's Fund, and they had appreciated the initiative.

He added, "We are showing this not only in Kolkata or Salt Lake it will actually travel to remote cities and remote places also their schools that is why UNICEF has been cooperating with us over the past few years."

"I am really happy to see Madagascar 2 which is an animated film," said Shubhangi Choudhury, a student of class V.

The festival was inaugurated with the screening of 'Madagascar 2: Escape to Africa' and would be concluded with Mexican film 'Juan Escopeta.'

This festival is annually organized by a film society Cine Central Calcutta. It will be concluded on July 1. (ANI)
