Karnataka sleazegate ministers quit, BJP embarrassed

Bangalore, Feb 8 (IANS) Three Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ministers in Karnataka resigned from their posts Wednesday, a day after two of them were caught watching porn on the third minister's phone in the state assembly. The opposition is already clamouring for their expulsion from the house.

All three - Laxman Savadi, C.C. Patil and J. Krishna Palemar - claim they have done no wrong and say a probe would prove their innocence.

The three told reporters separately here they had submitted the resignation from the ministry to Chief Minister D.V. Sadananda Gowda "voluntarily".

"We will urge the speaker to set up a probe to prove our innocence," they said.

Private Kannada TV channels Tuesday showed Savadi intently watching the porn clip while Patil appeared to take a brief look on a cell phone that they said belonged to Palemar.

Gowda, state BJP chief K.S. Eshwarappa and former chief minister B.S. Yeddyurappa also claimed that the resignations were "voluntary". They did not want to embarrass the party, the three leaders told reporters at separate meets.

Eshwarappa, however, acknowledged that the development was an embarrassment for the party. "It is unfortunate. I cannot say it has not caused embarrassment to the party," he said.

Eshwarappa said the three want Speaker K.G. Bopaiah to immediately order a probe so they can prove their innocence. "They are confident of proving their innocence," he said.

Gowda said he had accepted their resignations and forwarded them to the governor for acceptance.

Savadi held the cooperation portfolio, Patil handled women and child welfare while Palemar looked after environment and ports.

The opposition Congress has mounted pressure for their expulsion from the Karnataka assembly.

"Resignation (from the ministry) is not adequate. They should be expelled from the assembly. We will insist on their expulsion," state Congress chief G. Parameshwara told reporters.

The Janata Dal-Secular party will also seek their immediate disqualification from the assembly, state JD-S chief H. D. Kumaraswamy said.

The two parties plan to protest in the assembly till the three are expelled. The assembly will meet till Feb 10.

Vidhan Sabha is not the right place to watch porn. They are free to do so in their houses. These 3 ministers should have known that there’re cameras behind them as well.

But this incident also exposes the traditional HYPOCRITICAL attitude of Indians on matters related to SEX and dresses worn by women.

In January this year, Karnataka's Women & Child Welfare minister C. C. Patil (one of the ministers caught watching porn in the Vidhan Sabha) had said that women should “know how much skin they should cover.” He stated that incidents like rape and sexual harassment can be attributed to the decline in moral values in men, indirectly caused by women dressing “provocatively.”

And now this man is caught watching porn!

      Indian hypocrisy zindabad!

"3 Karnataka ministers caught watching porn in legislative assembly". This news has caught the imagination of everyone in our country, be it young or old, man or woman. Why has this become a topic for debate, because we enjoy these issues. Ministers caught watching porn. Everyone has joined in in condemning this. Of course this is shameful.

But do we ever enjoy or raise our voice in condemning those politicians who our looting our country, those who are swallowing all the wealth of this nation and neglecting their job which is to serve the people.

No we wont do that. Why? Because that's a boring topic. What these ministers have done is a shameful act and deserves strictest condemnation. Likewise, we must condemn the action of those politicians who are corrupt or those who are not doing their job honestly.

Hey fools, do not imagine the legislators are gentlemen! they are rag pickers, street urchins, pimps, mid night rowdies, robbers, hired killers, flesh trade agents, coal mafia, land grabbers, pick pockets, slogan shouters etc etc. Show me one party that has real statesman as its leader! we are ruled by hooligans today allover india. Every party is a fraud on democracy. they will do anything to grab political power. Be it Maya or jaya or Owaisi or Farookh or sonia or karuna or yeddi or reddy or achuthannandan or raja or sibbal or PC or even the budding vadra.... all are rascals and have no faith in democracy. they have all mastered the art of systematic looting of the country. white and white is their uniform to cover up their darker face. Blue film watching is the only time they do not effectively indulge in any criminal act damaging the society. leave them to watch more more of blue. We are safe till then

The competition for Indian Civil Services: in 2010, 5,00,000 people attempted for 800 odd posts.
The competition for Indian Army : in 2010, 3,20,000 people attempted for 320 odd posts.
The aspirants for these highly competitive exams are thoroughly checked for their mental and physical fitness.
The recent events show most of the 520 Lok Sabha members are neither mentally fit nor physically fit. I suggest that there should be an All India Exam which ensures the medical and physical fitness for Statesman of India. The Supreme Examination which sets even more high standards compared to Indian Civil Services etc and all Indians (irrespective of age) should be encouraged to write this Exam. This may change the outlook of the existing Indian Politics.

I am ashamed that such acts are being undertaken at the altar of governance all limits have been crossed half of them are not aware why they are in the assembly and what an assembly is meant for but I think it is essential to look into the core of the problem and that is we are responsible for this disgrace. We are the people who push these elements into their offices.I think those us who realize should at least abstain from voting unless we are given a responsible candidate. We are a scared and selfish society and are eager to outdo one another when we are accosted by glorified pseudo elements on various TV channels and happy that we have been treating the symptom rather than the disease, we all know this yet????
