Islamabad, Sept. 24 (ANI): The All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) chief and former Pakistan president General Pervez Musharraf has said the international community does not trust Pakistan enough to donate funds for the rehabilitation of rain victims in Sindh and Balochistan.
The News quoted Musharraf, as saying that when he was head of state, there was respect for the country, but now the international community is exploiting Pakistan. He said that during his tenure as the president, the country had received 6.5 billion dollars for the rehabilitation of earthquake victims.
Commenting on the anti-Islam film, Musharraf said it was made to instigate Muslims and hurt them. He demanded a concrete legislation and act against the desecration of any religion. He said that the movie was no doubt hurtful to Muslims, but damaging the assets of one's own country and killing one's own countrymen was not justified. He added that such violence-based protests give a bad image of Pakistan to the world. He also criticised the role of the state and said that their silence led to further provocation among Muslims.
He also urged the Independent Election Commission, impartial caretaker government and even the prime minister for free and fair elections. He demanded that the elections be held under the supervision of the Pakistan Army. (ANI)
