Migrants will be protected: Deshmukh

Mon, May 5 08:24 PM

Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilas rao Deshmukh on Monday said stringent action will be taken against MNS chief Raj Thackeray, who resorted to a fresh outburst against North Indians, if anything objectionable was found in his May 3 speech in Mumbai and assured migrants of protection.

Deshmukh, while condemning Raj Thackeray's bid to create "communal and regional hatred" said, "the government will defeat his plans".

"Maharashtra has an all-encompassing culture and people from various regions live here in harmony and have played an important role in development of the state. They will be provided protection," Deshmukh said.

Those from other regions living in Maharashtra should not feel helpless and the State Government will not hesitate to take stringent action against individual or organisation inciting hatred, he said.
