AIADMK chief J Jayalalithaa on Friday announced her party's decision to contest seven Assembly seats, ending speculations about a possible alliance between her party and the BJP. The two were seemingly coming closer, especially during the Ram Sethu controversy. Even as reports suggested differences between the two regarding the number of seats to be allotted to AIADMK, a minor player in Karnataka politics, political observers pointed towards the recent Hogenakkal issue where the Karnataka BJP unit and its chief ministerial candidate were harsh in criticising Tamil Nadu.
The candidates announced by Jayalalithaa are state secretary K R Krishnaraj (Gandhi Nagar), M C Deiyavasahayam (Samrajpet), S K Ramasamy (Rajaji Nagar), V Pugazendhi (Shanti Nagar), A Aandraj (Kolar Gold fields), T Samraj (Pulikesi Nagar) and K Murthy (Sivaji Nagar).
