Toonz Animation India Pvt Ltd has announced that it has entered in to MoU with Beijing University and Shengyang University in China to set up centres of excellence (CoE) in animation training. "It's a step beyond the success of Toonz training centres across India to further our target of emerging a global film and media training centre," Toonz CEO P Jayakumar said at a function to mark the animation firm's eighth anniversary.
Jayakumar said, "we are elated to lend a helping hand to the talents in China and are committed to offer them world class animation training. Our training centres across India under the aegis of Toonz Academy have been a huge success and we would like to further that by emerging as a global film and media training centre.
" From an outsourcing hub for western clients like Warner Brothers, Toonz has recently grown to the status of a co-producer with media giants like BBC, Disney, Sony Entertainment. Jayakumar said that Toonz co-production 'Hanuman Returns' - the sequel to India's first successful a nimated movie 'Hanuman' - is slated to hit theatres during the last week of December 2007.
Apart from Technopark in Thiruvananthapuram, Toonz has set up animation academies in Mumbai, Nagpur and Delhi and has plans to set up more in other cities in India.
