New Delhi: A day after Amitabh Bachchan was criticised by Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray for representing Uttar Pradesh and not Maharashtra, wife and politician Jaya Bachchan has reacted strongly and snubbed the leader.
When quizzed about the MNS chief's comment against her husband, Jaya said, "I don't know any other Thackeray other than Balasaheb and Udhav. Balasaheb is like my father."
On Saturday, Thackeray had stepped up his anti-north Indian rhetoric and accused Amitabh of not doing enough for Maharashtra, despite being a resident.
He alleged Bachchan was loyal only to his home state Uttar Pradesh.
"When Amitabh had to contest elections, he chose Allahbad. Why didn't he choose Mumbai? He even chose to be the brand ambassador of Uttar Pradesh," Thackeray had said.
At a meeting in Mumbai on Friday Thackeray even mimicked Railway Minister Lalu Prasad in his speech and accused him of working only for the benefit of his own community.
Reacting to Thackeray's comment Lalu on Sunday said, "Raj Thackarey is a child. In these times of globalisation, localisation will not work."
Meanwhile, SP leader Amar Singh has come out strongly in support of Amitbah's role as the ambassador of Uttar Pradesh.
