Sat, May 10 10:32 PM

Jalandhar, May 10 (IANS) Passengers of the Darbhanga-Amritsar Jannayak Express had a narrow escape Saturday when the engine and two bogies of the train derailed near Jalandhar in Punjab.

The derailment paralyzed rail traffic on the busy Amritsar-Delhi route for several hours.

No passengers of the derailed bogies of the train were injured as it was not at top speed at that time.

Many trains had to be diverted from this rail route to another route through Pathankot town in north Punjab.

Passengers were stranded at the railway station here and other railway stations on the rail route.

The diversion of trains caused further delays, railway officials said.

Railway authorities arranged to send passengers by buses to Amritsar.
