Lucknow, May 8 (IANS) A man-eater leopard that killed five adults and two children in eastern Uttar Pradesh in the last three months was trapped and killed by villagers Thursday.
The villagers were enraged after the animal injured seven people Thursday in Belhar village in Lakhimpur Kheri district.
Police inspector Shyamlal Kashyap told IANS: 'The villagers had laid siege in the leopard's territory and were determined to kill it.'
Once the animal was trapped, hundreds of men surrounded the beast and attacked it with sticks and rods before setting it on fire.
