India to establish two schools in Palestine

New Delhi, Sept 11 (ANI): India will construct two schools, one each for boys and girls, in Palestine, as part of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna and Member of Executive Committee of Palestinian Liberation Organisation (PLO), Dr. Saeb M.S.Erakat, here on Tuesday.

India will establish Jawaharlal Nehru Secondary School for Girls in Asera Al Shamalyeh and Jawaharlal Nehru Secondary School for in Abu Dees, at an estimated cost of 1.8 million U.S. Dollars.

The schools will cater to educational needs of about 800 students in the Palestinian districts of Asera Al Shamalyeh, Abu Dees and neighbouring villages.

The school in Asera Al Shamalyeh will have a constructed area of 1900 square metre with 12 classrooms and other facilities, while the Abu Dees School will be constructed in an area of 1700 square metre with 10 classrooms and other facilities.

Earlier in the day, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, who arrived here on Monday night on a State visit, held delegation-level talks with Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh in New Delhi. (ANI)
