Income tax officials ask Kingfisher to pay outstanding dues within 8 months

New Delhi, Feb.24 (ANI): Private carrier Kingfisher Airlines has been asked to pay the balance of its outstanding tax dues within the next eight months after being told to pay an upfront amount of Rs.35 to Rs.40 crores.

Income tax department officials on Friday rejected a Kingfisher Airlines plea that it should be allowed at least 18 months to clear its dues.

Unhappy with Kingfisher's offer to make payments over 18 months period on weekly basis, the I-T Department summoned the airline management for a meeting and made it clear that the status quo prevails.

Kingfisher Airlines has started truncated operations in accordance with its new flight schedule.

There is still uncertainty over moves by a consortium of 13 bankers to offer fresh loan for the beleaguered carrier.(ANI)

Mr. Vijay Mallya...where is that dumb son of yours SID..... how come he's not taking any of this headache. Is he only to take care of the airhostesses and flirt around with the IPL Cheer Leaders. Why don't you sell the flat Sid bought for Deepika Padukone as a gift? Your son is only fit to womanize, he doesn't have any brains for anything else. Father is in deep shit and son is flirting around.......what a shameless son.

Its mallya bad luck he didn't have son like you. But your are so lucky presently doing nothing but cursing his present son. Such a wonderful life you have, wish you all the best with your good life.

Reading the comments here, it is clear how ugly the whole thing is: Liquor which claims millions of lives and leads to poverty, defeating government efforts: Womanizing, calendar girls and film actresses and air hostesses, avoiding to pay tax...only one thing is lacking Murder! If a common man does not pay tax of even Rs10,000, he is jailed. For this person who owes 50 crores. who has done so much damage to our society, it is 18 months! This is democracy...

All that shoots up should come down, that is nature’s law. Mallya the king of distilleries now is biting the dust. All his life he was just a flamboyant womaniser. He made money selling liquor killing hundreds of people making them get addicted to liquor. Now he is paying the price for his deeds. This flashy father – son duo should realise, before it is too late, life is not just enjoying but living within the limits.

Vijay Mallaya's Kingfisher is finding headlines in News paper and Internet daily. The liquor supplier is playing havoc with innocent passengers off and on and is a headache to the Aviation Ministry very often. Is he an ordinary citizen or a descendent of some erstwhile Maharaja who used to indulge in sex-orgies and conspicuours consuption. My perception is he is spreading the virus of immorality in this country .

Job of spreading virus of immorality is well done by Congress government. Do you have any basis to point a finger to an entrepreneur other than inconvenience caused by flight cancellation. IT freezed its account and of Air India too. Why Air India is being let breathe, when at the same time KF is choked? Is govt trying to gain a political point by doing this? KF has cleared that account freeze led to disruption of services. So, will you blame Congress or a hard working conglomerate.

You don't find any difference between AI and KF? If'yes' you are missing the point. Pl read Parwati's comment

Indian banks which play with shareholders money should think twice before bailing out this carrier

Banker must know that Big Players is not a safe place to invest and lend a loan to them.

      Sir
It is not understood and what is quite surprising is that Kingfisher airlines is making more and more news. In our Land I think maximum citizens are paying their taxes, vats, and what not, by standing in long and unending queues, still Govt is angry with common people. When Kingfisher is failed to pay such a huge amounts, why Govt and IT Officials are asking (repeat asking) to pay dues, if small time man unable to pay by one day, there will be lot of hue and cry. It is shame on us , the owner of KF and UB involved in producing so called calenders, this and that ... Now citizens are right to pay back the dues to the Govt. If he is so serious, he should dispose palatial villas, farm houses, and other undeclared assets held with him..We are still reeling under unnamed bonded labor and so called hi-fi industrialists are enjoying at the cost of citizens of the Land

He is not ready to shed a pinch of his flab. He is only eyeing for the taxpayers money in the name of bailout. May be he has not been able to negotiate the share of this booty with the politicians and bureaucrats. Once this is done, KF will be back in air.

The Govt. has done the correct thing in this case. They should use the same yardstick in the case of Air India too and do not throw good money over the bad AI and waste tax payers money.

IT department along with High Court & Supreme Court should do the needful to attch Mr. Mallyas property. SBI should recover the loan amount using same measures. Banks money is a public money from small savings. These so called Interprenuers are enjoying using bank money.

K.F. should take out 10,00,00,00 copies of their calender and sale it in the market at high price. It will sale like hot cake. With this they will be able to clear all their dues.

I don't understand why so many frustrated, envy people are writing bad comments about Mallya and his son. Mallya is running limited liability PVT ltd company, so he won't get affected even if the company goes turtle. He is not forcing anyone to drink liquor, it is some of us who get addicted to it. There is trend among Indian netizens to take ethical, pragmatic stand in public forums but in private they do the same or even worse things.
Ask your parents were the money to buy education/luxeries for you came from? Do not attend /host parties where liquor is served. Get rid of friends if they have bad vices/Bycott relatives having doubtful source of income. Hai himmat.? nahin toh please cup baitho or dekhte raho, aise tamtamanese kuchh nahin hoga.
