Islamabad, Jan 10 (IANS) Pakistani Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar Thursday hoped that the recent incident near the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir would not affect on the Pakistan-India dialogue process.
Addressing a news conference, Khar said Pakistan has contacted the UN Military Observer Group for India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP) to conduct an inquiry into the alleged LoC ceasefire violations, Geo News reported.
Pakistan has accused Indian troops of killing one of its soldiers while Indian officials charged Pakistani troops with sneaking into Jammu and Kashmir's Mendhar sector, killing two Indian soldiers, and mutilating their bodies.
Reacting to the "contradictory" statements emanating from India, Khar said Pakistan made "responsible statements" and followed the ceasefire mechanism to defuse the situation, state-run Radio Pakistan reported.
Khar said Pakistan will not like to escalate the situation with India and hoped the recent incident will not cause a setback to the peace process.
She said Pakistan has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to improve relations with India, and has taken several trust building measures.
She said the people of Pakistan are "peace loving and extend a hand of friendship to all the regional countries, including India". "We have taken a lead role to build trust level with India," she was quoted as saying.
