I hope Bollywood starts shooting in Kashmir again: Aamir

Srinagar, Feb 9 (IANS) Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan was here after more than a decade and was so impressed with the breathtaking beauty of the valley that he hopes filmmakers return here "like the good old times".

Aamir arrived here Wednesday and visited the famous floating vegetable gardens in Dal Lake.

"I have come to Kashmir after more than 10 years. Last time I came here to shoot 'Mann' (1999). The place is wonderful, the people are nice and hospitable," Aamir told reporters during his visit to the Dal Lake.

"I hope Bollywood starts shooting films here like the good old times. My uncle (filmmaker Nasir Husain) used to shoot his films in Kashmir," he added.

Some parts of his super duper hit "3 Idiots" were filmed in Ladakh region of the state, but he couldn't come to the valley then.

"We went directly to Leh to shoot '3 Idiots' and I did not get an opportunity to visit the valley that time," said the 46-year-old.

Aamir said he is on a pleasure trip here, but his visit to the floating vegetable gardens, a private school and a riverside location in north Kashmir indicated that could be on a recce for his new film.

Sources also said that Aamir had shot an ad film for Incredible India here Wednesday.

one kashmiri studying engineering i know went to kashmir on Industrial visit. he had red dot on his forehead.
Jovially he mixed up with the young native vendors and told them that he too is a kashmiri.
they were shocked and one of them asked him innocently "if he's kashmiri then why is he wearing a red dot on his forehead"
...........once upon a time there lived some hindus also

He says the "People are nice and hospitable". Perhaps he should say that to the hundreds of thousands of Kashmiri pundits who have been driven out of their homes by these very 'nice' people. The hypocrisy of media and lot of these so called celebrities is outrageous. When it comes to place like Gujarat, they cannot see good and in places like Kashmir they are blind to all evil. Sheesh....

Mr. Arya, it is because the media know the truth. It is not the local Kashmiris who made pandits to leave the kashmir. Before some years the then CM of J&K said that Kashmiri pandits were driven-out by a single person....so media knows who is that single person. When it comes to hospitality, no body can deny that Kashmiries are best known for it.

I fully agree with Arya. Proof of Kashmiri hospitality are evident in refugee camps where Kashmiri hindus are stuck for decades. If pundits were drivenout by a single person what rest of them were doing. No stars or even common Indian tourist should visit Kashmir till all pundits are rehabilated and all temples are, which were razed down, restored. Till than let Kashmiris keep their hospitality to themselves.

All the Hindus and Sikhs of POK (Pakistan Occupied Kashmir) have been converted to Islam - it is a 100% Islamic place now. Same would be the state in whole of J&K if Pakistan had taken it over. So much for "nice Kashmiris " Mr. Aamir Khan !

what Amer says is the truth, Kashmir is like heaven on earth, the problem with us is that we do not value for the things we have, like the Brindavan gardens in Mysore the last time I visited Mysore and wanted to enjoy these gardens what is saw was garbage, food stalls, stray dogs, no greenery,or flowers dried up fountains, smelly ponds we have to learn to preserve and restore the beautiful things India has for our children, not destroy them in the name of religion.

Vrindavan gardens are not being destroyed in the name of religion. Kashmir is surely being destroyed by the Islamic fanatics. Kashmir does NOT belong to Islamists. Kashmir is the seat of Goddess Sharada herself. It is time to drive out the hateful terrorists from there.

Kashmir is not like heaven on earth. Kashmir WAS heaven on earth. Now it is infested by hateful islamists.
