Eight years ago IIM Lucknow graduate, Nitin Das was living the dream. For five years he worked in the corporate sector, until giving it up to follow his dream - filmmaking.

After a course from New York he began making message oriented small budget films. His latest movie, Global Warming-A Fable from the Himalayas, was picked up the United Nations Environment Programme.

The film is now officially a part of UNEP's Plant for the Planet: Billion Tree Campaign, an international initiative against global warming. Das had heard about the campaign and decided to send in his film to the UN. "They saw it and they loved it.

It fit in perfectly with their campaign," he says. Launched in 2006, the Billion Tree Campaign has already catalysed the planting of 2 billion trees of which India planted 10.5 million.

The target for 2009 is 7 billion trees, almost a tree per person alive. Das set out with a handycam to Himachal Pradesh.

He worked with Spitiecosphere, an NGO in Spiti Valley to come up with a simple message. "Planting trees is the simplest, most effective solution to Global Warming.

I hope people understand and act upon it.".
