OFFICIALS OF Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad (UP Board) seems to have learnt no lessons from the recent loss of bundles containing 'award blank sheets' of Board examinations during transit via train as well as the annual inflow of complaints of answer-sheets going missing even before their re-scrutiny. The examination copies of 2008 exams are surprisingly lying in a heap?unattended and unguarded in the veranda and portico of the UP Board's office as testimony to the apathy of the officials concerned and the callous attitude with which these copies are being handled by the department.
A short visit is enough to witness the disorderly piled up sacks of these examination copies in the premises of the UP Board office. It is worth mentioning here that the importance of these examination copies remained valid for at least upto six months as the students have the option to apply for scrutiny if unsatisfied with the marks received in a subject and then the Board needs to produce the copies once again before the examiner for the due process.
Moreover, whenever student moves Court over some alleged anomaly, the Court more often than not asks for the copies to be produced before it. On the condition of anonymity, an employee of the Board office said that he witnessed such sights every year.
The copies coming from regional offices from all across the state are placed in the premises in such a manner that it seemed that they are of no use now, he said. Though their is a store room for the examination copies in the Board office premises for storing these evaluated examination copies, the department seems not at all concerned to do the needful, he further added.
Narrating her experience in this regard, a pass out of 2006-07 batch Manisha Pandey said that she had to make many rounds of the Board office at the time of scrutiny as she was told by the officials that her copy was missing.
