MEMBERS OF the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) took out a procession from the party office, staged a demonstration at the district magistrate's office and handed over a memorandum to him on Friday to protest pathetic power scenario in the district for past one month and failure of the Central government to check the incidents of terrorism. Criticising the faulty policies of the Central and state governments BJP MP Yogi Adityanath said the soft attitude of the Union government had boosted the morale of separatist forces and terrorists were striking at will making temples their target.
He said the Central government was not sincere in tackling the issue of terrorism. Adityanath said the main accused in the Parliament attack case Afzal Guru was not yet hanged and no effective steps were taken to work out the serial blast in Gorakhpur.
While stressing the need for reintroducing POTA-like provisions to handle terrorism, Adityanath came down heavily on Prime Minister Manmohan Singh saying the "economics of master of economics" had failed to check the rising prices of essential commodities. National president of Kisan Morcha Vinod Kumar Pandey condemned the state government for not taking steps to check the sky-rocketing prices of commodities and ignoring the plight of farmers.
Criticising the state government, former minister Shiv Pratap Shukla said the BSP government was though blaming the Congress-led Central government for not providing enough funds it was spending a huge amount of money for constructing Ambedkar parks and memorials. Former MP Ram Narain Pasi, Shriram Chauhan, party leader Upendra Shukla expressed their concern over the 'deteriorating' law and order.
