A 76-year-old woman who had slipped into coma after being drugged by her domestic help in March this year died on Tuesday night. The police said the victim was on medication for two months.
The victim Kusum Goel was drugged along with her husband S.L. Goel, her 64-year-old sister-in-law and her 17-year-old grandson at their Sarvodaya Enclave house on March 8 earlier this year. S.L. Goel is the vice-president of Sarvodaya Enclave Cooperative Housing Society.
Last week, a verified domestic help drugged two young women and decamped with cash and valuables in Sarvodaya Enclave, barely two houses away from that of the Goels. The family had hired Raju Dass (13) a week before the incident as their permanent domestic help had gone on leave.
The family did not verify his antecedents with the police. After robbing the family, the accused decamped with cash and valuables from the house.
He had allegedly served dinner laced with drugs to the family. The three fell unconscious some time later while relaxing in the sitting room.
Raju, a Bangladeshi, was arrested a week after the crime was committed along with his four accomplices. The gang gained entry in the houses by befriending the domestic helps.
They arrived in Delhi in the second week of February and within a month they struck at three houses-in Greater Kailash, Sarvapriya Vihar and Sarvodaya Enclave. The police said the main accused was behind bars and they were contemplating slapping additional charges on him.
