A 25-year-old woman was sexually assaulted near Sangli Mess at New Delhi's Bhagwan Das Road on Sunday evening. The police said three men attacked the woman when she was returning home.
She was pushed around, her clothes torn and the three men pinned her down when she objected to their lewd remarks. The men were in an inebriated condition and one of them has been arrested.
The police said the area was brimming with people but no one came to her help. The incident occurred around 7.30 pm on Sunday when the victim, who works at a beauty parlour in east Delhi, was returning home.
A passerby called up the police control room and informed about the episode. The police found the woman lying on the ground in a disheveled condition.
She was rushed to Ram ManoharManohar Lohia Hospital. The one arrested has been identified as Gonglu and he is unemployed.
He was bailed out later in the evening. A case of assault and molestation has been registered.
