MAKING JUST one call from the victim's mobile phone landed three youths in the police net in the case of double murder at a farmhouse in Mohanlalganj on May 6. The trio was employed at the farmhouse two years back.
They executed the killings to take the tractor . Sent to jail the first time in a criminal case, they confessed to have earlier eliminated a woman too before robbing a tractor.
Their names did not surface in that case. SP (Rural) AK Singh told HT Live that they could not get ample time to interrogate the accused about details of the woman's murder.
The blood-soaked bodies of tractor driver Shatrughan Yadav and watchman Ram Autar Lodh were recovered from the farmhouse of Sanjiv Saini in Madhaokhera village. SP (Rural) Singh said there was no clue leading to the motive behind the murders.
In the course of investigation, the police had come to know about tractor driver Yadav's illicit relations with five married women in nearby villages. The information was established later, Singh said.
The SP (Rural) said they picked up the husband of one of the women, as Yadav had had an altercation with the former two days before the murders. Singh said the suspect left the officials puzzled as he accepted eliminating the driver and the watchman with the help of the husbands of the four other women having relations with Yadav.
While the cops were trying to corroborate the suspect's confession, the SP (Rural) received the call details of the tractor driver's mobile phone. The phone and keys of the tractor were missing from Yadav's pocket when his body was recovered.
