State to let govt colleges run self-financed B. Ed courses

IN A move to deter the monopoly of the privately-run institutions offering courses in B.Ed, the Uttarakhand government has issued no objection certificates to as many as 18 government colleges allowing them to run self-financed B.

Ed courses, officials said. "The decision is primarily aimed at filling up thousands of posts of trained B.

Ed teachers lying vacant in government-run secondary and higher secondary schools across the state," said Prof S.C.

Speaking to Hindustan Times, official said the decision allowing 18 government colleges to run self-financed B.Ed.

courses would also come as a respite for students being charged astronomical amounts by the 45 privately-run institutions across the state which run B.Ed courses.

"It would also help break the monopoly of such institutions in due course," he added while referring to the decision. The 18 government colleges that have been permitted to run B.

Ed courses are in Rudrapur, Khatima, Kashipur, Ranikhet, Ramnagar Rishikesh, Dakpathhar, Laxar, Agastyamuni and, Ramnagar.
