The Indian women's hockey team may have failed to qualify for the Olympics but the juniors are hoping to make the cut. They will get the opportunity when the maiden under-18 Asia Cup takes place in Gwalior from September 6 to 14.

"The girls are focused and don't want to comment on the performance of their seniors," said chief coach G.S.

Bhangu, on the sidelines of the training camp here. "They are our future, and I'm confident they will do well in Gwalior," he added.

Bhangu said that he will be working on fitness and stamina for the first 15 days and then get into the technicalities of the game. "The camp has been very good, the girls are enthusiastic and are putting in a lot of effort on their fitness schedule," the coach said, adding, "Special emphasis will be given on the technical moves for the next 25 days.

" "Off-the-ball training is a must for younger players as we want to make some slight changes in their pre-determined moves. I'm sure the girls will have no problem adopting to the new system.
