LEADERs of the World Hindu Federation (WHF) on Sunday threatened an armed struggle against Maoists in Nepal. Outgoing WHF president General (retd) Bharat Kesar Singh said Maoists had grabbed power in Nepal at the barrel of the gun.

"Maoists leaders do not believe in peaceful coexistence. We are left with no other option but to raise arms to safeguard Hinduism and monarchy in Nepal," he said.

Speaking at the concluding session of the general council meeting of the WHF, Singh alleged Maoist leaders Babu Ram Bhattarai and Prachanda are being guided by China to strengthen Leftist rule in the Himalyan Kingdom. Their mission was being funded by Christian missionaries active in Nepal, he said.

Former Union Minister Swami Chinmayanand said the Hindu community was facing challenges from various corners of the world. In USA and Europe, Hindu migrants have played an important role in the development of the country.

"None of the Hindu kings or saints has attacked members of another community. We are tolerant towards other religions.

This does not indicate we are weak. The time has come to unite Hindus and launch a movement to safeguard our rights," he said.

BJP MP from Gorakhpur Yogi Adityanath said Hindus should donate open heartedly for launching a movement against Maoists and restoring Hinduism in Nepal. Assistant organiser of the conference Mahanth Kaushalendra Nath said India was responsible for Maoists grabbing power in Nepal.

Members of WHF would launch a padyatra in the bordering district to create awareness among the people before challenging the Maoists. Other leaders who called for launching an armed struggle against the Maoists included Mahanth Dharamdas, Mahanth Manas Kokil, Diwakar Chand and Vinod Bhai Raj Bhandari.
