A six-year-old girl was found murdered near her home in Sarita Vihar area of south Delhi on Sunday morning. Police did not rule out that the victim might have been sexually assaulted before being killed.

On Saturday, a seven-year-old was raped in Central Delhi. In today's case, the victim's father told the police that she had gone missing near her house on April 22.

"She was playing outside her house when she went missing. She may have been lured by someone known to her to a secluded place.

The person may have killer her later. We do not rule out that the victim was raped also," said a police officer.

The minor's body was found around 11 a.m.

, barely a kilometer away from her house. Some passersby saw the body in a drain and called the police control room (PCR).

The victim's father was called and he identified the body. "Her body was highly decomposed and she had clothes only on the upper part of her body.

Because of this we could not establish whether she had been stabbed or strangulated," said the officer. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).

The victim's father owns a provision store in the Madanpur Khadar area. The victim has three siblings and she was playing with them when she was last seen.

The father told the police that he had no enmity with anyone. On April 22, the day the minor went missing, the police had registered a case under Section 363 of the IPC (kidnapping).

After finding the body, they have added Section 302 (murder) to the case. "We have rounded up a few people for questioning," said the officer.
