DU gears up to implement OBC quota

Senior officials of Delhi University met on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Vice Chancellor Prof Deepak Pental to discuss implementation of the OBC quota. The move comes after the government asked all higher educational institutions, including central universities, IITs and IIMs, to implement 27 per cent OBC quota law from the upcoming session.

"We were waiting for the government's directive on this. Senior officials met on Tuesday to lay out a roadmap in order to smoothly implement 27 per cent OBC quota in Delhi University," said S.

K. Vij, Dean Students Welfare.

No final decision had been reached. "This was a preliminary meeting," Vij said.

On whether DU would implement full 27 per cent quota in the upcoming session, Vij said, "Any institution which needs time to implement the quota needs to seek permission of the HRD Ministry. We have not yet decided on the course of action.

" DU admission forms in June The tentative date lists for admission into DU is out. The sale of application forms for undergraduate courses will start from June 2.

The date list, however, is to be passed by the academic council and the VC. According to the tentative schedule: First list will come out of June 26 with admission from June 27-30.

Second list on July 1 and admissions from July 2-4. Third list on July 5 and admissions from July 7-9.

Registration for postgraduate courses starts June 16.
