We all have heard of the poet inside our former president APJ Abul Kalam; but recently a select gathering got to hear his pearls of poetry strung in music. Delhi singer Mohit Chauhan launched his solo album, Kalam, with Kalam's poetry as lyrics in the capital recently.
Actor Anil Kapoor launched the album. He was heard saying to Chauhan, "I want you to compose a song for me".
The singer rose to fame as the frontman of the pop-fusion group Silk Route. The group disbanded sometime last year.
Most former Silk Route members are part of Chauhan's new venture and were present at the event. The band also performed a few tracks from the album like Vision, My Dear Soldiers and more.
For everyone used to hearing Chauhan sing in a particular way, hearing him sing bluesy, english songs was a nice change. But, he was back in his trademark style with Morni, a song about love and longing.
Sanjeev Bhargava of Seher, Rahul Ram of Indian Ocean and Parikrama's Subir Malik (who's managing Chauhan's business) were also spotted.
