SC pulls up Jaya for Setu plea

The Supreme Court on Monday wondered how Ram Setu could be declared a national monument if "nobody had seen it."

A bench headed by Chief Justice K.G. Balakrishnan expressed surprise after reading a petition filed by former Tamil Nadu chief minister J. Jayalalithaa praying the court declare the "bridge" a national monument. Although the bench clubbed her petition along with the other cases on the controversial Sethusamudram project, it took strong exception to Jayalalithaa's prayer.
