YOUR MOBILE has been converted into a multifunctional gadget that takes pictures, plays music, sends emails and looks great in your hand and you love touching it. "Since touch is an important aspect of our lives and we love to interact with our gadgets, therefore manufacturers are offering gadgets with touchscreen technology," says Lloyd Mathais, director, marketing, India and amp; South West Asia, Motorola.

The technology is not just limited to mobiles but is applicable to laptops, home theatres and cameras too. "A touch screen enables high speed but accuracy may be low when the finger is being used.

But accuracy definitely increases when you use a pen. The screen gets dirty due to finger prints, but the looks and style appeal of the gadget make up for it," comments V Ramachandran, director, sales and marketing, LG Electronics India Pvt.

Ltd. Some users find it difficult to use the gadget while driving while a few others may not find the screen sturdy enough to survive a fall.

But the future is bright. As Takakiyo Fujita, general manager, marketing, Sony India, says, "Touch technology promises to transform daily life, making it increasingly easier for users to interact with computers and other devices with the technological innovation of a screen.
