A CITY court on Monday granted interim bail to one accused in Shivani Bhatnagar murder case in which suspended IPS officer R.K. Sharma is the prime accused. Additional Sessions Judge Rajender Kumar Shastri granted bail to Satya Prakash till January 25, after the latter claimed relief on the ground of his relative's death, requiring his presence at home.
Allowing the bail subject to furnishing of a personal bond of Rs 1 lakh along with one surety of an equal amount, the judge observed that an accused has every right to fulfill his social obligations. Satya Prakash is among the five accused who, according to the prosecution, had conspired and acted under the instructions of R.K. Sharma to murder Shivani.
Meanwhile, continuing with the final arguments in the case, Sharma's counsel S.P. Minocha said the prosecution's attempts to bring vital improvements in the testimonies of key witnesses showed its "malafide conduct" to implicate Sharma. The counsel alleged changes were made to the statements made by crucial witnesses, including Shivani's husband.
