EF only...

When you set out to get yourself a, er, mobile communication device, a Benq-Siemens would be say, a number 11 in your list of preferences. But if you get hold of one, you might want to enquire more.

A fitting example that eye-catching needn't be loud, the EF71 is a clamshell - very slim, very light, and very elegant. Even though the lens of the 2 mp camera sticks out slightly, it's brushed alloy skin makes it look classy in a minimalist way.

The disadvantage is that it is the underdog. The ergonomics are perfect, thanks to the acres of real estate you get when you open the phone.

The 2.2 inch 262 K colour screen sits lavishly on the top half. The phone sits nicely on your ear and your lips are in sync with the mouthpiece.

An FM transmitter. You can expand the in-built 24 MB memory with a micro SD card, and store a whole lot of music.

If you don't plug in your headphones, switch on the radio transmitter and you can listen to music in your phone through any other FM tuner - something like the iPod's iTrip. But the phone loses out on the FM Radio bit.

First, the channels don't detect and save frequencies automatically. And if you do latch on to a frequency, it's never without noise.

Erm, you can't change the sequence of your contacts through the first or last name, and the battery won't last two days. The good bits are the secure folder to store smses, flight mode and the Q-Fi mode.
